Manchester City may sign Portuguese Benfica defender Alejandro Grimaldo.

According to the source, the English club considers the Spaniard as an alternative to Mark Cucurella, if suddenly a deal breaks down with the latter.

Alejandro started his career at Valencia football school. In 2008, he joined Barcelona's youth system. He became the youngest player (15 years and 349 days) ever to take the field in Segunda.

In December 2015, Grimaldo agreed to transfer to Portuguese Benfica for € 1.5 million and joined the new club in January of the following year.

Last season, the defender scored six goals and made nine assists in 47 matches for Benfica in all competitions. Portal Transfermarkt.com estimates the cost of a football player at € 20 million .
